If you already have recordings, you have most of an online course. The part that used to take a weekend, turning a folder of videos into a structured curriculum with lesson titles, summaries and quizzes, is now a guided setup in Vonza. This is how it works, step by step, using the wizard as it is in the courses app today.
Before you start
Gather the recordings you want in the course. MP4, MOV, WebM and audio files all work. Name the files in the order you teach them, because Vonza groups lessons into modules in file-name order. If one recording covers several topics, that is fine: Vonza splits it at each topic change.
You will need a Vonza account; the AI course creator is on every plan and uses AI credits that every plan includes monthly.
Step 1: Name the course and choose how to begin
In Courses, click New course. The wizard opens on its Start step: six steps along the top (Start, Upload, Describe, Outline, Price and publish, Done), a Course title field and three ways to begin.
Type a working title; you can change it later. Then pick Upload my video, the recommended path for anyone who has already recorded content. The other two paths, describing the course for Vonza AI or starting blank, end at the same outline, price and publish steps.
Step 2: Upload your videos
Drop your files into the upload area, or pick them from your computer. Set the language spoken in your videos, or leave it on detect automatically. Each file shows its progress and its state: Ready, Uploading or Processing.
Uploads continue in the background. You do not have to wait on this screen; the panel on the right tells you what happens next:
- Vonza transcribes each video.
- It splits each video into lessons at every topic change and groups them into modules, in file-name order.
- It writes a title and a short summary per lesson.
- It drafts a quiz per module.
Click Build my outline when your files are listed.
Step 3: Review the outline
The Outline step shows the modules and lessons Vonza AI drafted. Each lesson carries a status pill: Ready when the video is in place, Summary drafted when the summary is waiting for your approval, Quiz drafted for the end-of-module quiz.
Check the structure, not the wording. Rename a module, drag a lesson into a better order, add a lesson or a quiz, or remove anything that does not belong. Three helpers sit beside the outline: write a summary for each lesson, draft a quiz at the end of each module, and write each lesson in full. Switch any of them off if you would rather write that part yourself.
If the structure is wrong, regenerate the outline. Lessons you added yourself stay.
Step 4: Price and publish
Pick one price to start. The seven plan types are Free, One-Time Purchase, Subscription Plan, Recurring Payment, Installment Plan, Flexible Payment and Pay What You Want. You can add more plans, coupons and bump offers later from the course’s Pricing and Marketing tabs; the course pricing options page explains each model.
Glance at the sales page, which Vonza AI wrote from your outline, then click Publish course. If payments are not connected yet, the course publishes free for now and you can connect Stripe, PayPal or Paystack afterwards.
Step 5: Done, and what to do next
The Done step suggests the next moves: open the course in the builder to approve the drafted summaries and quizzes, pick a sales page template, set up a certificate, and share the link. Students who enrol land in the student portal on your domain.
Tips for better results
- One topic per file where you can. Vonza splits long recordings, but clean files give cleaner lessons.
- Name files in teaching order. Modules follow file-name order.
- Approve the drafts. Summaries and quizzes are marked as drafts until you approve them; read each one before students see it.
- Add a quiz where it matters. Keep the drafted quiz on the modules that need checking and remove it where it does not. The quizzes and assignments page covers pass marks, attempts and retakes.
