Accept Payments Online With Stripe, PayPal and Paystack

Connect your own Stripe, PayPal or Paystack account once and use it for everything you sell on Vonza. On a checkout, buyers can pay by card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal or Klarna, and you choose which methods each one shows.

How accepting payments works on Vonza

To accept payments online you need a payment provider: the company that takes the money from the buyer’s card or account and pays it out to you. Vonza does not replace it. You connect your own provider account, and Vonza builds the checkout, works out the price and records the sale.

Vonza works with three providers. Stripe is connected through Stripe Connect, so one-time payments are charged on your own Stripe account. PayPal payments go to your PayPal account. Paystack is for sellers who sell in Nigerian naira.

You connect them once, in Settings › Payment integrations, and every checkout, course, form and invoice on your account can then take payments.

How Vonza checkout pages work

Ways your buyers can pay

Each method is shown only where your account and the buyer’s device support it.

  • Card

    Through Stripe

Debit and credit cards, charged on your connected Stripe account. Cards also take recurring and instalment payments.

  • Apple Pay and Google Pay

    Through Stripe

Shown on supported devices when the wallet is turned on in your Stripe account.

  • Klarna

    Through Stripe

Pay later for one-off payments, where Stripe offers Klarna for your account and the buyer.

  • PayPal

    Your PayPal account

Buyers pay with their PayPal account, and the money goes to yours. For one-time payments.

  • Paystack

    For naira sellers

If you sell in Nigerian naira, buyers pay by card in Paystack’s popup, and you are paid out to the bank account you link.

Choose the methods for each checkout

Every checkout has its own Payment methods step, with one switch per method. New checkouts start with every method on.

  • Turn a method off for one checkout and leave it on for the rest.
  • A method your account cannot take yet stays visible, greyed, with the reason: “Stripe not connected”, “Not enabled on the Stripe account” or “PayPal not connected”.
  • Keep at least one method on. The designer warns you before buyers are left with no way to pay.
  • Ask for a billing address, or just the email. Email is always required.

Payment plans and subscriptions

A Vonza checkout can hold up to 6 prices, so buyers can choose to pay in full or spread the cost. Instalment plans run from 1 to 120 payments.

Later payments are taken from a card kept on file, so recurring and instalment prices need a card or Paystack. PayPal and Klarna are for payments made once.

How to start accepting payments

Three steps, most of them done once.

  • STEP 01

    Connect a provider

Open Settings › Payment integrations and connect Stripe or PayPal. If you sell in naira, set up Paystack and link the bank account you get paid into.

  • STEP 02

    Pick your payout schedule

Choose Daily (every business day), Weekly (every Monday) or Monthly (on the 1st) on the Stripe or Paystack page.

  • STEP 03

    Switch methods on and publish

Open a checkout, choose its payment methods and publish. Until a provider is connected, the checklist shows “Connect Stripe or PayPal to get paid”.

What to know before you start

The limits of payments on Vonza today, so nothing surprises you or your buyers.

  • One currency per account

Your prices and checkouts use the currency set in Settings › General. Buyers pay in that currency; there is no currency choice per checkout.

  • PayPal is for one-time payments

Subscriptions and instalment plans need a card or Paystack. PayPal is not offered to sellers in the Paystack region.

  • Klarna is for one-off payments

It appears only where Stripe offers it for your account and the buyer, and never on recurring or instalment prices.

  • Wallets depend on the device

Apple Pay and Google Pay show only on devices that support them, and only when they are on in your Stripe account.

  • Paystack is for naira

Paystack is offered to sellers whose account currency is Nigerian naira, and Paystack payouts are made in naira.

  • Payouts are not instant

They follow the daily, weekly or monthly schedule you pick, and they can be paused.

  • Affiliate commission on Stripe sales

Affiliate referrals are credited automatically on Stripe sales. PayPal and Paystack sales pay no affiliate commission.
