# Run a Paid Community and Sell Memberships Your Way > Vonza gives every community seven ways to charge, from free and one-time to subscriptions, installments and pay what you want. Sell the whole community or single spaces, publish a sales page from four templates and take payments through Stripe and Paystack. ## The seven plan kinds - **Free**: Anyone can join at no cost. - **One-Time Purchase**: A single payment for lasting access. - **Subscription Plan**: The same amount every week, month or year until the member cancels. - **Recurring Payment**: The same amount every week, month or year, for a set number of payments. - **Installment Plan**: Split a price into several payments on a schedule. - **Flexible Payment**: Members pay the total at any time, in as many payments as they like. - **Pay What You Want**: Members choose the amount, within the range you set. ## Charge for access the way your members pay Every way to charge is a plan on the community or on one of its spaces, and a community can carry several. Members pick one at checkout. - **Installments of up to 100 payments**: Split a price into payments on a schedule: the same amount repeating, or custom payments with their own amounts and gaps. The first payment is taken at checkout, and the price and schedule stay fixed so members keep what they bought. - **Free trials and access length**: Offer a free trial of 1 to 365 days on subscription, recurring and installment plans, 30 days unless you change it. Access can last forever or a set number of days or months. - **Paid, private and read-only spaces**: Mark a space public, private, paid or read only. Give a space its own plans, or let a community plan also unlock chosen spaces, so a higher tier opens more rooms. ## Seven plan kinds, and everything around them Every plan kind the community app offers, plus the checkout settings and the numbers that show how the community earns. - **Free**: Anyone can join at no cost. Free plans work before you connect a payment account. - **One-Time Purchase**: A single payment for lasting access, with no renewals to manage. - **Subscription Plan**: The same amount every week, month or year until the member cancels, with an optional free trial first. - **Recurring Payment**: The same amount every week, month or year for a set number of payments, then it stops. - **Installment Plan**: Split a price into up to 100 payments, repeating or custom, with the first taken at checkout. - **Flexible Payment**: Members pay the total at any time, in as many payments as they like, after an optional initial amount. - **Pay What You Want**: Members choose the amount, within a minimum and maximum you can set. - **Checkout settings**: Allow coupons, charge an additional fee such as a setup fee, mark all sales final and require terms of use. - **Revenue analytics**: Revenue, net revenue, MRR, ARR, refunds, paying members and subscription churn, by plan and over time. ## A sales page that sells the membership Every community gets its own page on your site and brand. Pick one of four templates, show what is inside each space, then send visitors to a checkout that lists your plans. The price stays off the page unless you switch it on; the checkout always shows it. - Four templates: Original, Standard, Stage and Rail - Price hidden on the sales page by default, shown at checkout - Checkout through Stripe and Paystack, with saved cards - Affiliates earn a percentage of the sale or a fixed amount per sale ### The four sales-page templates - **Original**: The classic look: blue, its own header and footer, and the join card on the right. - **Standard**: Cover on top, spaces on the left, join card on the right. - **Stage**: Centered name under the cover, stats bar and photo tiles. - **Rail**: Name on the cover, join card on the left, a row per space. ## How a paid community works on Vonza From a connected payment account to members who switch plans on their own, in four steps. 1. **Connect payments**: Connect a Stripe or Paystack account to your Vonza site. Paid plans need a connected account; free plans work without one. 2. **Add your plans**: Open the community’s Pricing page and add plans for the community or for a single space. Drag them into the order you want members to see. 3. **Link content and set access**: Link courses, products and bundles to the community or a space, and choose how each is reached: Open, Locked, Unlock at a level, Unlock after days or Buy now. 4. **Members join, pay and switch plans**: Members join from the sales page and pay at checkout. Later they upgrade or downgrade from their You page: upgrades start now and are prorated, downgrades start at the next renewal. ### Access modes for linked content - **Open**: Members get it as soon as they join. - **Locked**: Shown, but members don’t get it automatically. - **Unlock at a level**: Members get it when they reach a level. - **Unlock after days**: Members get it some days after joining. - **Buy now**: Members buy it to get it. ## Questions about running a paid community ### Can I charge for my online community on Vonza? Yes. Add one or more plans on the community’s Pricing page, from a free plan to subscriptions and installments. Visitors join from the community’s sales page and pay at checkout through Stripe or Paystack. Paid plans need a connected payment account; free plans work without one. ### What pricing options does a paid community have? Seven plan kinds: Free, One-Time Purchase, Subscription Plan (the same amount every week, month or year until the member cancels), Recurring Payment (the same amount for a set number of payments), Installment Plan (up to 100 payments on a schedule), Flexible Payment (members pay the total in as many payments as they like) and Pay What You Want (members choose the amount within the range you set). A community can carry several plans at once. ### Can I offer a free trial? Yes. Switch on a free trial in the community’s Enrollment settings and set its length from 1 to 365 days; it is 30 days unless you change it. The trial applies to subscription, recurring and installment plans. Members see that nothing is charged today, and the first payment is taken when the trial ends. ### Can I sell access to some spaces only? Yes. A space can be public, private, paid or read only, and a paid space has its own plans that members buy to get in. A community plan can also unlock chosen spaces, so members on a higher plan get into them without paying for each one separately. ### How do members pay? Members pay at checkout through Stripe or Paystack, depending on the account you connect, and can save a card for later payments. You can allow coupons, add a fee such as a setup fee, mark all sales as final and require members to accept your terms of use before paying. ### Can members upgrade or downgrade their plan? Yes. Members see the community’s plans on their You page. Upgrades start straight away and are prorated, so the member pays the difference for the rest of the billing period; downgrades start at the next renewal. Paid memberships are canceled from the member’s Billing page. ### Can affiliates sell memberships to my community? Yes. Each community has its own affiliate program. Turn on affiliate promotion, choose a commission as a percentage of the sale or a fixed amount per sale, invite affiliates or share the signup link, and follow each affiliate’s clicks, sales and earnings. The commission rate is your setting. ### How do I see what my community earns? The community’s Analytics page has a Payments tab with revenue, net revenue, MRR, ARR, refunds, revenue by plan, MRR by plan, paying members and subscription churn, for the last 7, 30 or 90 days, the year to date or the last 12 months. A Sales tab lists every sale and lets you search by buyer name or email. ### How many communities can I run on each Vonza plan? The Starter plan includes 2 communities, Growth includes 5 and Business includes 1,000. Current prices and the full plan comparison are on the pricing page. ## Related pages - [Online Community Platform](https://vonza.net/best-community-platform): Everything in Vonza Communities: spaces, the feed, events, chat, gamification and moderation. - [Pricing](https://vonza.net/pricing): Vonza’s own plans and prices, with the number of communities each includes. - [Checkout](https://vonza.net/checkout): The checkout page itself: its design, coupons and the payment methods it accepts. - [Affiliate Program](https://vonza.net/affiliate-program): Let partners promote your community for a percentage or a fixed amount per sale. - [Membership Sites](https://vonza.net/membership-sites): Sell monthly or yearly access to a library of courses and content. - [Community Gamification](https://vonza.net/community-gamification): Points, levels and ranks that keep paying members active, with rewards that unlock content. - [Community Platform for Associations](https://vonza.net/community-platform-for-associations): Membership tiers by space, yearly or monthly dues and member events for associations.
